CASE STUDY

Objective

Monitoring and management of water demand at Pretoria Boys High School.

Solution

Following the DROP principle:

1. Data: Collect all relevant information/data to determine the historic daily demand of the site, called the baseline

2. Refine: Install electronic monitoring devices – also called Automatic Meter Reader (AMR) devices - to refine and better understand the site’s water demand profile - monitor site consumption to determine flow profiles and demand

3. Options: Determine the options to lower demand (leaks, efficiency devices, system optimisation)

4. Proceed: Proceed with design considerations for the identified options. Water awareness training with all staff, educators and learners.

Results

20% reduction in water consumption.

Ready to find out what your site is really using?

Every engagement starts the same way: a water audit that establishes your baseline, benchmarks your performance, and shows exactly where the losses are. Most sites are surprised by what it finds.
