OBJECTIVE

Making use of existing infrastructure in order to allow facility to make use of alternative water sources as much as possible

SOLUTION

Raw water is pumped from a borehole as well as two basement sumps. Rainwater is also harvested when it rains. This water is stored in the raw water tank with an approximate capacity of 220,000L. A multi-step filtration system then cleans the water and it is then stored in a 93,600L tank. The system has been set up so that municipal water does not fill the tanks unless the ground water system is not operational.

RESULTS

Rain water and raw water from the basement sumps are being used as alternative water sources - essentially making it possible for the facility to use much less municipal water and providing storage and backup.
