CASE STUDY
Objective
To monitor consumption and reduce demand by implementing efficiency measures
Solution
Aligned with our first step, we installed Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) devices to monitor consumption and flow profiles. We did a lot of work to reduce consumption by increasing efficiencies (tap aerators, toilet flushing mechanisms) and eliminating waste (leaks, over irrigation, faulty mechanisms). We then designed and installed backup systems and rainwater harvesting with filtration.
Results
The project has been running since June 2017, and over the 103 months, across 18 facilities, we managed to save close to 960 million litres of water. 960,088,600 liters to be exact! This had a total monetary value of approximately R48 million.
